
It crosses over a man-made canal and boasts an English Village complete with London-style taxis and architecture on the shore.

Despite the surrounding landscape which looks much like this view of the mountains near Davis Dam, a little farther up the Colorado River, and the temperature climbing to around 115 degrees or more each afternoon, the city decided to celebrate a very important event, half way around the world, one July.

The occassion was the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer, and the English Village at the foot of the London Bridge and the entire city was invited to join in the reception celebrating the marriage.

They even had wedding cake for all.

Of course, by the time the celebration in Arizona started, the wedding had long since been over and it was the middle of the night in London. But still it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience to have a bite of royal wedding cake by the London Bridge in the cool of a desert evening.
